O My Soul, Become the Infinite

O my soul, become the infinite

Break beyond all shape and name,

Shatter the shell of form and fame,

Let the heart’s fierce flame arise,

And touch the skies

O my soul, become the infinite.

Tear through the veils of creeds unending,

Transcend the truths the wise are defending,

Climb where thought itself grows thin,

Beyond all bounds—rise deep within

O my soul, become the infinite.

Nowhere rest, no shelter build,

Seek not ends where dreams are stilled,

Flow forever, ever wide,

With no shore and no divide

O my soul, be the eternal tide,

O my soul, become the infinite.

(A poetic translation of Kuvempu’s verse)
